General Job Description: 

The Supply Chain Buyer is responsible for managing the supply base around specific commodities in support of Supply Chain and Operations Management goals and objectivities. This includes participating in commodity supply strategies, commodity supplier assessments and selection, serving as a change agent between the suppliers and Bristol Compressors International, Inc. on continuous improvement initiatives and managing commodity and product cost and identifying and implementing cost savings projects to meet corporate goals.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

-Identify, analyze and present recommended supply strategies to the Supply Chain Management leadership          team to achieve corporate goals of year over year cost savings initiatives.
-Achieve implementation of approved cost savings projects which includes creating and maintaining timelines, business cases, and risk assessments and consistently overcoming roadblocks to meet defined deadlines.
-Initiate and coordinate launch of new parts/products/updated tooling requirements, following through with RFQ’s, supplier selection, contract execution, and tracking tooling through construction and overseeing the FAI/PPAP approval process.
-Interface with Bristol Engineering, Quality Assurance, Finance, Operations, and Marketing as an active participant of cross-functional teams.
-Conduct supplier assessments and evaluations to assure all of Bristol Compressors International, Inc. quality, delivery and financial expectations are consistently being met. This includes leading initiatives with suppliers on establishing and implementing corrective action plans to assure performance objectives are met and coordinating monthly Supplier Scorecard communications.
-Support site purchasing expeditors when quality, delivery, and other commercial issues arise that are critical to meeting production schedules.
-Support site purchasing on meeting inventory value goals through consignment/stocking programs with key suppliers.
-Responsible for continuous process improvement and innovations, both internally within the Bristol facility and externally with the Bristol supply base.
-Analyze material spend, product/piece cost quarterly/annual updates, productivity plans, and actual/forecasted material productivity.
-Assist in monthly financial reporting and forecasting of material productivity plans/results including PPV analysis.
-Performs other job related responsibilities as directed by Leadership.

Percentage of Travel: 5%

Experience/Qualifying Skills:
-BA/BS degree in business, finance or engineering with a minimum of 3-5 years of procurement/project management experience preferred.
-Experience in sourcing manufacturing plant equipment such as injection molding machines, injection molds, bobbin winding, bridge crane, HVAC units, electrical substation, motor test, material handling & CNC machining/turning will be required.
-Experience in manufacturing plant operations and processes related to injection molding and motor manufacturing will be a significant plus.
-Knowledge of MS Office – Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Working knowledge of six sigma tools and lean manufacturing experience is desirable.
-Multi-tasking and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously is a must.
-Experience in Commodity management (steel, aluminum, casting and forging process) is a plus.
-Experience in Procure to Pay processes, order management, accounting, AR/AP, logistics is a plus.
