General Job Description:
Quality Engineering Technician – Metrology with experience in calibration of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical instruments. Education in all types of gauging and experience in design and purchase is also desired. Must be familiar with computer use and record maintenance. Comprehensive reading skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Experience writing procedural documents to govern gage use. Self-motivated with the ability to work with little supervision and positively interact with others. Occasional lifting of weight greater than 25 lbs. required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Creates Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs for dimensional analysis for full part layouts, serial production, capability, and SPC monitoring.
Has ownership of activities within the metrology area as it relates to gages/equipment maintenance, monitoring, and reliability; this includes preventative and corrective maintenance.
Maintains records for gages/equipment including Gage, laboratory spare parts log, calibration records, and gage R&R status.
Ensures gages/equipment are calibrated in a timely manner.
Assists with set-up of new gages/equipment.
Trains others on the use of gages/equipment as necessary.
Responsible for facilitation, completion, and reporting of Measuring System Analysis (MSA) of gages/equipment including various Gage R&Rs methodologies.
Performs inspections and validates parts using various gages/equipment including, however not limited to, Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), surface finish tester, micrometers, calipers, attribute gages, leak tester, optical comparator, height gage, air gage and, scales.
Performs dimensional analysis for customer PPAPs, Requalification, and other verifications as necessary (tool details and validation of part conformance).
Responsible for completion and reporting of capability studies for PPAP requirements.
Compiles various components of PPAPs packages according to company and customer specific requirements.
Assists with continuous improvement activities.
Participates in System and Quality Audits as necessary
Participates and coordinates root cause analysis in conjunction with other team members as necessary.
Validates applicable gages/equipment repairs to ensure part integrity before and after repairs through visual and dimensional analysis.
Responsible for 5-S in metrology by maintaining a clean and organized work area at all times, as well as ensuring metrology area is clear of previously measured parts.
Performs other duties assigned by Leadership.
Associates degree or two (5) years equivalent/related experience in Dimensional and Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programing with a thorough understanding of reading drawings, GD&T, working with materials and tight tolerances required.
Some electrical experience preferred.
ASQC certification preferred.
